Amsterdam

Myself and my better half spent the weekend in beautiful Amsterdam celebrating his big 30th Birthday.

When packing for city breaks I always pack lots of separates that I can mix and match into different outfits depending on whether its day or night, the weather, mood etc. There's nothing more annoying then trying on and loving something at home only to hate it when you get there and have no other options.

But in the run up to the trip I went a little mad with the shopping and packed wayyyy too much and didn't wear any of it because here`s what I learned about Amsterdam...
1. It is way too amazing for you to want to waste time going to and from your hotel changing up outfits just for the sake of it.
2.Its also very casual so you don't feel in any way under dressed when your out for dinner or drinks etc in your jeans and flats.
3. Also heels are a no no, the transport system is amazing but you will do alot of walking to take the whole place in. (I wasnt brave enough to chance the bikes this time ha)

We really did fall in love with the city and can`t wait to go back.

Basic B**ch

Shirt H&M | Jeans River Island | Coat Forever 21 | Shoes Penneys

Trying to get two children ready for school and myself ready for work in the mornings leaves little time to start fussing over what to wear.  Lately I've found myself wearing the same outfits on repeat for practicality. I'm all about the basics, plain shirts or T-shirts with a pair of fitted jeans for a clean fresh look.

Basics can easily be dressed up by adding statement jewellery and a pair of heels to take you from day to night.

My favourite shop for basics is H&M they have a great selection and are so affordable. They are also offering 20% of your first online order when you sign up to their new online store.

Transition

Living in Ireland you really have no idea what the weather is going to be like when you wake up in the morning. It could be snowing or the sun could be splitting the trees. Which of course leaves it hard to plan ahead with outfits. When shopping now I tend to look for pieces that can transition with seasons (sometimes we experience all four in one day!!!) When I spotted this dress in the H&M window I could see myself wearing it with over the knee boots, a faux fur gillet and a floppy hat. But I could also see my self wearing it with gladiators or strappy summer sandels. I had planned to wear it with the lather but of course the Irish weather had a different idea and we woke up to a disgusting day. So I settled for something in the middle and went with ankle boots. I finished it off with this jacket.

I love all the little details about this dress, the lace up chest, the tassels, the slit on each side but the best bit has to be the price! It cost €19.99!!!

L'Action Paris Face Masks

I tend to use a face mask one or twice a week to give my skin a little extra TLC. I usually just grab some of the ones we have at work or I used one from the Forever Aloe range. Lately we've started to stock the L'Action ones so I picked up a few to see what they are like and the fact that I'm sitting down to write this means I love them!!

The first one I tried was the refining and exfoliating mask. It contains essential oils of rosemary and ginger which help to repair, stimulate and tone the skin. Its also contains seaweed which helps eliminate skin impurities. This one contains little beads which help exfoliate the skin. I left it on the skin for the 12 minutes and then it needs to be wet to be removed so I wet it with warm water and spent a few minutes exfoliating the beads into the skin. Afterwards my skin felt so soft and dewy. I'm very sensitive so I was expecting to feel some irritation after the exfoliating but it was very gentle on my skin. There is more than enough product in the sachet to do two different masks so I used half one night and the rest 2 nights later.

The next one I tried was the radiance mask which aims to illuminate and tone the skin. this mask contains essential oils of carrot and cypress, which helps illuminate the skin as well as the mineral complexes stimulating and energizing the skin. This one is a smoother consistency and just spreads over the skin and dries in. This is again to be left for 12 minutes and then washed off. Afterwards my skin had a lovely healthy glow.
I'm really loving these products and cant wait to try the rest. I've already bought the clear skin one and am waiting to use it when I get my usual hormonal breakout. It aims to repair the skin using the soothing and calming effects of lavender. It also aims to regulate the sebum (skins oil) using cinnamon extracts.

Millie Mackintosh Collection

For my anniversary this year I started dropping hints pretty early for what I'd like. All I wanted was to get my hands on some of the Millie Mackintosh collection. Choosing which pieces was the hard part as I wanted one of everything. In the end I went for this gorgeous teal dress. And because Millie is my ultimate style crush I paired it with a pair if black over the knee boots like I seen in her campaign.

Teal Lace Up Neck with Flared Sleeve Dress

I also picked this jacket which I'm dying to get wearing.

Faux Fur Collar

I was so impressed with the quality of them, the dress feels so heavy. I love that it can be dressed up or down. Its also reduced on her site at the minute. (sob!) Its also sold on ASOS their prices are higher but when you take in the exchange rate and the higher postage rate it might work out the same. I have my eye on one of her dresses for a wedding and a few of the pieces from the new collection. R.I.P to my bank balance.

Inglot Dundalk

If like me you stalk the Inglot Instagram page you'll know that they opened a new store in the Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk. Which is of course where I work so myself and the girls I work with were counting down the days until it opened. When it finally opened last week we realized something pretty quick. We are not going to see much of our wages working beside it. Every time I've been in I've seen a handful of different things I want. I won't be happy until I have the entire store in my kit.
The unit itself is quite small and compact so you can get around everything and there is at least five girls thereat all times to help you with everything you need. Their really nice and approachable. Their prices are very reasonable in my opinion for the quality. E.g eye shadow, brow filler pans are €6, Foundations range from €20 to €33 I'll link their website here for to to check the stuff out for yourself. This is a look I did using some of the products I got as well as some of my own products which I'll list below. I used all Nima brushes for this look.

**I took my pics using the portrait setting on my camera which takes the photo twice, once normal and once softened so here's the two.**

#3

For our wedding anniversary we love to go back to our wedding venue for the night so this year for number three we did just that and fell in love with the place all over again. I have such a soft spot for Carlingford its such a stunning little town. We had an amazing time and I already cant wait to got back to Ghan House next year. If you haven't been I really recommend it, their award winning food is to die for and the entire house is so charming.

I am completely obsessed with this top. If you don't want to go for as daring a look a plain black bra is really nice underneath as well. I seen this type of bra on the model wearing the top on the site and fell in love. Mine is Primark from last years Valentines collection.
